Hello fellow battlecruiser and/or pre-dreadnought
and/or motorcycle enthusiasts! I am your
webmaster, Bob Henneman, and I live in Decatur,
Georgia, which is a neighborhood in Atlanta.
My 'real' job is at DeVry University, where
I handle a variety of non-academic responsibilities
during the day, and am an adjunct professor
at night. I also fill in as a substitute
instructor at a couple of local universities,
and have published a few minor articles in
magazines you have never heard of. I hold
a BSBA from DeVry University, a Masters in
Business Administration , a Masters in Project
Management, and a Masters Certificate in
Human Resources. I am currently working on
my PhD, which I hope to finish in 2010. If
I ever win the lottery, or when I retire,
I'm going to open a bookstore and ride horses
and motorcycles till by butt aches.
Naval history is a hobby, and this website
is a way to dabble in that hobby while teaching
myself HTML. I decided to do a website on
Battlecruisers for several reasons, not the
least of which is that I could not find a
good website about them. Other reasons include
the fact that they were built in limited
numbers over a fairly short period of time,
so I was not jumping into a project that
could never be complete. The pre-dread website
came about because my undergrad web development
professor wanted a site that used frames,
and I have always been interested in the
antiques that served in WWII. The motorcycle
page is a recent addition, though I have
been riding for over two decades. When I
am not posting on various naval history discussion
boards I post in various motorcycle related
ones. When I am not online, at work, or in
class, I am riding: I put about 25,000-40,000
miles a year on my three motorcycles. I recently
purchased a pick up, the first non-motorcycle
vehicle I have owned in several years.
Other hobbies include antique trucks, old
books, and scuba, which I do less and less
now that I live inland. I watch football
(go Patriots!) and the Braves, but have little
other use for network television. I enjoy
outdoor activities like horseback riding,
hiking, and just walking around downtown
Decatur. I grew up in New England, living
in New Hampshire and going to school in Massachusetts.
I have also lived in Orlando Florida, Salt
Lake City Utah, Butte Montana, and Nantucket
Island.
I hope you enjoy the website! And please
check back often, as new pages are added
whenever time allows.
